A Tight Ship: This metaphoric term alludes to a ship in which the ropes are taut and by extension the ship is strictly managed.
My daily effort to run a tight ship is ongoing, I don’t know where the time goes. Monday to Friday I think I’ve nailed it, one more little push for an hour or so weaving after my day job and I’ll be happy – My weave design time on a Saturday won’t happen unless I’ve had my weekly trip for coffee and cake either. Well I have to have a break; I tell myself.
I’m trying to live a simple life. It’s just not easy.
I wanted to be a fashion designer when i was young, pursuing art and design was always my interest. I have learnt to make an income from other sources and there has remained a real passion for craft and design as a result.
Collecting information, techniques , ideas, fabric, threads. It has been great but not so great to manage.. and after the process of clearing out my design room. Life is still not simple!
After the daily running of our lives; a tight ship. Children, dogs, this, that – all included. The time left to set up a business on this tight ship is I could only say- a tight squeeze. I can’t give up though! I just love textiles ?
